Jozi Levi Brazil Project feat. Banu Kunt Işık

Jozi Levi began his professional music career under the influence of Uğur Yücel in 1992, he participated in the Uğur Yücel & Sezen Aksu Show, and subsequently, for three years, in Kayahan’s concerts and album pro-jects. By chance, he met Cyro Baptista, a renowned percussionist, and pianist Marcos Silva, both from Bra-zil, from whom he learned a great deal about Brazilian music and percussion techniques. In 1996, Melis Sökmen formed Pasaporte Latino with Ercüment Vural and Tuğba Önal. She continued her music career as a founding member and percussionist until the group disbanded in September 2002. During the same period, she participated in the Akbank Jazz Festival and the Istanbul Jazz Festival as part of Emin Fındıkoğlu and the Detant project. She also appeared as a guest artist on albums by Kerem Görsev, Kenan Doğulu, and Volkan Konak, adding Brazilian rhythms to their music. In mid-2008, Jozi Levi formed the Brazil Project, a group performing Bossa Nova, Pagode, Samba, MPB, and Baião styles, and staged shows in popular venues across Istanbul. Since 2009, he has been organizing corporate Rhythm Workshops, which he continues to conduct as an instructor/moderator, for some of Turkey’s most important institutions. In 2010, he began preparing and presenting a Brazilian music radio program called Musica Brasileira on Açık Radyo FM 94.9. In 2013, he was awarded the Ordem de Rio Branco, one of Brazil’s most prestigious med-als of merit.
